Focused Family Therapy provides outpatient services, primarily family therapy, to families who have concerns about their children's behaviours, emotional well-being, self-concept, or ability to interact positively with peers and adults.

Interns and students, who are supervised by senior Vanier staff and paid consultants from the community, provide service.

How we help

Families receive up to 12 sessions of family therapy. Therapists may choose to utilize non-verbal aids such as art or drama to augment the family therapy.

Who we are

Students and interns have Master's Degree or an honours Bachelor's degree in a counseling discipline. Interns from other countries with degrees or experience equivalent to Canadian Master's level training may also participate.

Staff supervisors have Master's level training and extensive experience. Community supervisors have Advanced Training in Clinical Supervision.

Who is eligible?

The families of children age 7 to 15 who live in London are eligible for service.

Fees per session, if any, are determined using a sliding scale. No family will be turned away because of lack of funds.
